WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners has the authority to approve the Collier Area Transit (CAT)bus fares and transit fee policy; and WHEREAS, on October 23, 2012 and after due consideration on its agenda and majority vote,the Board adopted Resolution 2012-192 establishing the CAT bus fares and transit fee policy; and WHEREAS, on February 12, 2013 and after due consideration on its agenda and majority vote, the Board adopted Resolution 2013-28 establishing an additional policy providing for an elderly/disabled reduced fare for the subcontracted Transportation provider with the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged that provides transportation services under the non-emergency transportation Medicaid Contract for Collier County; and WHEREAS, on April 28, 2015 and after due consideration on its agenda and majority vote,the Board adopted Resolution 2015-78 which extended affordable transportation alternatives to our area youth to encourage participation in education, recreational and employment opportunities; and WHEREAS, on February 9, 2016 and after due consideration on its agenda and majority vote,the Board adopted Resolution 2016-25 which authorizes the creation of a Corporate Discount fare structure in order to encourage use of the Transit system by large employers; and WHEREAS, research has shown that the introduction of free fares resulted in measurable (20 to 60 percent) increases in ridership on transit systems; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY THAT: 1.
