EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Collier County Community Redevelopment Agency Board (CRAB)
approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Commercial Building Improvement Grant
Agreement in the amount of $9,999.50 for property located at 2248 Tamiami Trail E. and within
the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Area.
OBJECTIVE: To revitalize existing commercial structures through the building improvement grant
program established by the Bayshore Gateway Triangle CRA.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Commercial Building Improvement Grant Program (C -BIG) is a
redevelopment initiative funded and administered by the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community
Redevelopment Area (BGTCRA) as partial reimbursement for exterior and interior improvements to
commercial buildings within the redevelopment area. The C -BIG program funds both exterior and
interior improvements to qualified commercial buildings in the CRA. Funding for interior
improvements is contingent upon grantees performing exterior improvements. A ll interior and
exterior improvements must be approved by the CRAB prior to commencing any improvements.
A C-BIG application was submitted by Antone Mendes for a fifty (50) percent reimbursement to
improve the exterior of the commercial property located a t 2248 Tamiami Trail E. (El Rincon
Mexican Restaurant) which is one of the addresses in Folio 51690680009. The owner received
estimates for the exterior improvements from 2 contractors. The lowest estimate is for $19,999
resulting in a total reimbursement request of $9,999.50.
With a unanimous vote of 5 -0, the BGTCRA Advisory Board approved the application at the
September 5, 2017 regular meeting.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved for form and legality and requires a
majority vote for approval.- JAB
FISCAL IMPACT: Sufficient Building Improvement Grant Program budget is provided in Bayshore
CRA Fund (187) to support the proposed grant of $9,999.50.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: The improvements approved through the C -BIG program
will further t he goals, objectives and policies outlined in the Future Land Use Element for the
Bayshore Gateway Triangle Redevelopment Overlay.
RECOMMENDATION: That the CRA Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a C -
BIG Agreement, in the amount of $9,999 .50 for property located at 2248 Tamiami Trail E. and
within the BGTCRA.
