P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, The Tzu Chi Foundation is an international humanitarian organization
which has been devoted to spreading the Great Love of Buddhism
through its work in the fields of charity, medicine, education, and
culture; and,
WHEREAS, The Tzu Chi Foundation is volunteer-based and headquartered in
Hualien, Taiwan and funded through donations from the public since its
founding by Dharma Master Cheng Yen in 1966; and,
WHEREAS, To help ease the suffering caused by Hurricane Irma, from
September 30-October 1, 2017 Chi Foundation volunteers, together
with volunteers from the Redlands Christian Migrant Association and
Pickleball For All, distributed $256,600 to 591 households consisting of
2,100 residents in need in Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, On October 8, 2017, Tzu Chi Foundation volunteers will again
distribute around $100,000 USD to 328 households in need in Collier
County; and,
WHEREAS, These relief efforts provided by the Tzu Chi Foundation serve as a
way for the people of Taiwan to demonstrate their appreciation to the
People and Government of the United States of America for the
support they provide to Taiwan during her time of need; and,
WHEREAS, Recognizing the efforts of the Tzu Chi Foundation to help the citizens
of Collier County recover from the suffering caused by Hurricane Irma
with our admiration and appreciation.
NOW THEREFORE, on the auspicious occasion when people and friends of the
Republic of China (Taiwan) around the world are celebrating her 106th
National Day and volunteers of Tzu Chi Foundation continue their
efforts to help our suffering residents in Collier County, be it
proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that October 10, 2017 be designated as
TZU CHI FOUNDATION DAY IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10th Day of October,2017.
