EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve Second Amendment to Agreement 12-5874 with Advanced Data
Processing for EMS Billing to extend services for a one year period to allow processing of accounts
received through September 30, 2017 and to correct a Scrivener’s error.

OBJECTIVE: To allow payment for services to Advanced Data Processing, the current billing
consultant, for service provided on accounts that they receive through September 30, 2017.
CONSIDERATIONS: On November 13, 2012 (Agenda Item 16.E.6) the Board approved the selection
of Advanced Data Processing, a subsidiary of Intermedix Corporation, to provide EMS billing services.
On November 15, 2016 (Agenda Item 16.E.6), the Board also approved an Amendment allowing
Intermedix to provide consulting services to the County to enroll in the Florida EMS PEMT Medicaid
program and allow for the further recoupment of previously unreimbursed services. This contract will
expire on November 13, 2017.
On July 11, 2017, the Board approved contracting with Digitech Computer, Inc. as the new EMS billing
consultant. Digitech’s services will take effect on October 1, 2017. Until that time, all patient care
reports will continue to be exported to Advanced Data Processing for processing. An extension of one
year will provide sufficient time for insurance filing and collection on those accounts.
While staff was preparing the amendment to extend the contract, they discovered that the November 15,
2016 amendment was inadvertently titled as the Second Amendment. This amendment also will correct
that scrivener’s error.
FISCAL IMPACT: The fee to be paid will remain at the current rate of 4.45% of net collections less
refunds.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority
vote for Board approval. -SRT
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact resulting from this
action.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve and authorize the Chair to execute the attached Second
Amendment to Agreement 12-5874 with Advanced Data Processing for EMS Billing for the limited
purpose of processing accounts received prior to October 1, 2017 and to correct a scrivener’s error.
