EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve an exhibition loan agreement with the Florida Keys History and
Discovery Foundation, Inc. in Islamorada, Florida to temporarily display Collier Museum's Rob
Storter Art Collection, and approve the exhibit use fee of $2,500.
OBJECTIVE: To garner recognition and revenue for the Collier County Museums and share the story of
Collier County history through the loan of the Rob Storter Art Collection for a temporary exhibition at the
Florida Keys History and Discovery Center in Islamorada, Florida.
CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County Museum staff has negotiated an exhibition loan agreement with
the Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation, Inc. in Islamorada, Florida, to exhibit a selection of
items from the Rob Storter Art Collection, an asset of the Collier County Museum. The art exhibit will be
on display in Islamorada for twelve weeks during the summer of 2017. The exhibition was produced in
partnership with the Friends of the Museum of the Everglades. It is entitled “Never No More: Storter’s
Southwest Florida” and consists of three introductory panels and 30 framed original works of art by
Collier County pioneer Robert Storter.
In accordance with the agreement, the Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation, Inc. will pay the
Collier County Museum a $2,500 fee for the use of the exhibit. The $2,500 fee was determined in
cooperation with the Friends of the Museum of the Everglades, and a similar negotiated exhibition loan
agreement was approved by the Board previously on February 26, 2013 (Agenda item 16D8). The Florida
Keys History and Discovery Foundation, Inc. will also pay all insurance, shipping and handling costs.
The negotiated agreement is attached for the Board’s review.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation, Inc. will pay the Collier
County Museum a $2,500 fee for the use of the exhibit. The Museum Division budgets earned revenue in
its operating fund (Fund 198).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: The attached agreement has been reviewed and approved by the County
Attorney’s office. -SRT
