EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment in the amount of $3,283,000 from Fund (112)
reserves and appropriating these dollars within the following Fund (112) projects to continue
implementation of the median landscape capital program: Immokalee Road - Collier Boulevard to
Wilson and Wilson to 43rd; Collier Blvd. - US 41 to Marino Circle and Marino Circle to Davis and
Golden Gate Blvd to Immokalee Road; Santa Barbara - Davis Boulevard To Bridge No. 030206NB,
030205SB at I-75; and Santa Barbara Extension - Rattlesnake to Davis Blvd.

OBJECTIVE: To continue implementation of the median landscape capital program by establishing
budgets for specific median landscape projects within Landscape Capital Projects Fund (112) by
appropriating budget from Fund (112) reserves.
CONSIDERATIONS: As part of the approved Landscape Beautification Master Plan, (June 27, 2016,
Item 11C and September 27, 2016, Item 11D), budget amendment authorization is sought to provide
funding for additional designs, site preparation, and preliminary funding for irrigation controller
purchases and construction of the following segments: Immokalee Road - Collier Blvd to Wilson Blvd
and Wilson Blvd to 43rd; Collier Blvd - US41 to Marino Circle and Marino Circle to Davis Blvd and
Golden Gate Blvd to Immokalee Rd; Santa Barbara Blvd - Davis Blvd to Bridge @ I-75 (030206NB,
030205SB) and Bridge @ I-75 to Copperleaf; and Santa Barbara Extension - Rattlesnake to Davis Blvd.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding is provided from reserves established for median landscape capital
improvements in Landscape Capital Projects Fund (112). The requested budget amendment is
summarized as follows:
1. Collier Blvd (US41 to Marino Circle and Marino Circle to Davis and Golden Gate Boulevard to
Immokalee Rd) - $1,375,000
2. Immokalee Rd (Collier Blvd to Wilson and Wilson to 43rd) - $1,364,000
3. Santa Barbara (Davis to Bridge @ I-75 and I-75 Bridge to Copperleaf) - $444,000
4. Santa Barbara Ext (Rattlesnake to Davis) - $40,000
5. Collier Blvd (Golden Gate Blvd to Immokalee Rd) - $60,000
Landscape Capital Projects Fund (112) Reserves - ($3,283,000).
Related maintenance costs associated with beautification improvements for the medians listed above have
been projected at $962,800, using an average cost per mile of $41,500 (over 23.2 landscaped miles) which
would begin post construction and continue throughout future fiscal years.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated with this
action.
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize a budget amendment in the amount of $3,283,000 from Fund
(112) reserves.
