Reviewer 1-8 Completed 03/17/2017 2:23 PM County Manager's Office Nick Casalanguida County Manager Review Completed 03/20/2017 8:22 AM Board of County Commissioners MaryJo Brock Meeting Pending 03/28/2017 9:00 AM 03/28/2017 P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, as Americans, we enjoy our liberties through the documents that our founding fathers created, those being known as the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution with its Bill of Rights; and, WHEREAS, James Madison wrote the Virginia Plan, the model and the basis for the forming of a new constitution, in the Constitution Convention of 1787, which a new constitution established our new form of government, replacing the Articles of Confederation; and, WHEREAS, James Madison wrote many of the newspaper articles which outlined the reasons that the states should endorse the new constitution; these articles became known as the Federalist Papers; and, WHEREAS, James Madison served in the United States House of Representatives from 1789 until 1797, during which time he introduced the Bill of Rights to Congress; and, WHEREAS, James Madison was President of the United States from 1809 until 1817; and March 16, 2017 marks the 266th anniversary of the birth of James Madison; and, WHEREAS, the 27-67 Constitution Project, was created to connect Florida’s 5th Graders to the Founding Fathers' documents, to better understand the foundation of their personal liberties. Collier County 5th Graders will receive a constitution booklet enhancing their personal knowledge, history and education of the Constitution of the United States.
