EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept and appropriate a private donation for EMS equipment in the amount
of $10,000.
OBJECTIVE: To approve the expenditure of a donation to purchase equipment for EMS field
personnel.
CONSIDERATIONS: On January 27, 2017, a citizen, who prefers to remain anonymous, contributed
$10,000 to EMS with the request that the money be spent on equipment to be utilized by EMS field
personnel.
EMS has an unbudgeted need for ballistic vests and helmets to be used in the event of an Active Shooter
situation. It is intended that at least seven vests and seven helmets be placed on each Battalion Chief
vehicle for a total of 21 sets to provide protection for field personnel. The donor was in agreement that
this would be beneficial to our first responders.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is needed to appropriate the $10,000 within EMS Fund 490.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact resulting from this
action.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve a Budget Amendment to recognize and appropriate the donation of
$10,000 to purchase equipment for EMS field personnel.
