EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a transportation coordination agreement with Good Wheels, Inc. to
allow for limited Paratransit transportation service just north of the Lee/Collier County line.
OBJECTIVE: To provide access to medical and life sustaining services for those Collier County
residents receiving service from Collier Area Transit’s paratransit service.
CONSIDERATIONS: Good Wheels, Inc is the Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC)
responsible for coordinating transportation services within Lee County. Collier Area Transit (CAT) has
requested that Good Wheels, Inc. (as the CTC for Lee, Glades and Hendry counties), enter into a
Coordination Agreement allowing for the provision of transportation service for Collier County residents
into Lee County. The attached agreement formalizes CAT’s operation of transportation services in Lee
County. In part, CAT will also be required to provide the CTC with information that includes an annual
operating report, which the CTC is required to submit to the Commission for the Transportation
Disadvantaged, and proof of required drug and alcohol verification testing to establish compliance with
Federal Transit Administration regulations.
FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact is associated with this action.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote
for Board approval-SRT
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the attached
Transportation Coordination Agreement with Good Wheels, Inc. and authorizes the Chair to sign the
Agreement.
