EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint an alternate member as a regular member on the Code Enforcement
Board.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint alternate member Susan Curley as a regular member on the Code
Enforcement Board, to a new three-year term expiring on February 14, 2020.
CONSIDERATIONS: This seven member board, plus two alternates, is established pursuant to Chapter
162 of the Florida Statutes by Ordinance No. 07-44, as amended, and is composed of individuals
representing the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and
realtor, and who are considered on the basis of their experience or interest in the areas of the codes and
ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each
year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. This is a quasi -judicial board. A list of the
current membership is included in the backup.
Board member Anthony Marino died in December 2016, leaving a vacant seat. The vacancy was
advertised and an application was received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: Ms. Curley has had no unexcused absences in the past two years.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: As the Code Enforcement Board is a quasi-judicial board, no
committee recommendation is required. Staff recommends that Ms. Curley be reclassified from an
alternate member to a regular member, and reappointed to a new three-year term expiring on February 14,
2020. A recommendation memo is included in the backup. The resulting vacant alternate seat will
continue to be advertised.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointment.
