EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation for the Collier County Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board to
approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Commercial Building Improvement Grant
Agreement between the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency and
Western Bike & Auto, LLC in the amount of $16,830 for property located at 2286 Tamiami Trail
East and within the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Area.
OBJECTIVE: To revitalize existing commercial facilities through the building improvement grant
program established by the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Area (BGTCRA).
CONSIDERATIONS: The Commercial Building Improvement Grant Program (C-BIG) is a
redevelopment initiative funded and administered by the BGTCRA as partial reimbursement for exterior
and interior improvements to qualified commercial buildings within the redevelopment area. Funding for
interior improvements is contingent upon grantees performing exterior improvements. All interior and
exterior improvements must be approved by the BGTCRA prior to commencing any work.
A C-BIG application was submitted by Western Bike & Auto, LLC for a 50% reimbursement request to
improve the exterior of the commercial property located at 2286 Tamiami Trail East . The owners received
estimates for the exterior improvements from two contractors. The lowest estimate is for $33,660
resulting in a total reimbursement request of $16,830.
With a unanimous vote of 9-0, the BGTCRA Advisory Board recommended approval of the application at
the December 6, 2016 regular meeting.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved for form and legality and requires a
majority vote for approval. - JAB
FISCAL IMPACT: The FY2017 budget allocated $50,000 for the C-BIG program. This request for
$16,830 will reduce the available funding to $33,170. No other funding requests have been made from
this fund at this time.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: The improvements approved through the C-BIG program will
further the goals, objectives and policies outlined in the Future Land Use Element for the Bayshore
Gateway Triangle Redevelopment Overlay.
RECOMMENDATION: That the CRA Board approves and authorizes the Chairman to execute a C-
BIG Agreement between the CRA and Western Bike & Auto, LLC, in the amount of $16,830 for property
located at 2286 Tamiami Trail East and within the BGTCRA.
