Backup Documents 01/10/2017 Item # 4C 4 C PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, all men, women and children residing in the United States of America, both U.S. and foreign born, have the right to individual freedom; and, WHEREAS, human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery in which individuals experience forced labor, including but not limited to sexual exploitation by traffickers; and, WHEREAS, second only to the illegal drug trade, human trafficking is among the most lucrative crimes worldwide and Florida has been documented as one of the largest hubs for U.S. human trafficking; and, WHEREAS, the United States Congress passed a resolution declaring that January 11th be recognized as the national day of Human Trafficking Awareness.
