EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize execution of the grant award for the Collier County Sheriff's Office
FY2017 VOCA grant award in the amount of$167,128.50 and appropriate a budget amendment.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain grant funds for the Collier County Sheriff's Office Victims of Crime Act
(VOCA).
CONSIDERATION: On October 4, 2016 the Collier County Sheriffs Office received the FY2017 grant
funds for the VOCA grant in the amount of$167,128.50. The grant requires a 25%match. On September
22, 2016, the Board approved the Collier County Sheriffs Office Budget, including using funding from
Fund 602(Confiscated Trust Fund)as match for some grants awards, including the VOCA grant.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment is needed in the amount of $55,000 to be able to use
Confiscated Trust Funds as the match for the VOCA grant.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote
for Board approval.-SRT
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners (1) authorize execution of the grant
award for the Collier County Sheriffs Office FY2017 VOCA grant (2) authorize the necessary budget
amendments.
