EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept for maintenance the publicly dedicated alleys within the Naples Twin
Lakes subdivision, located north and south of Granada Boulevard just east of U.S. Route 41.
OBJECTIVE: That the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approve and authorize the acceptance
for maintenance of the public alleys depicted on the attached map.
CONSIDERATION: The two unnamed 20 -foot alleys lying north and south of Granada Boulevard
serve as secondary access for adjacent businesses along U.S. 41. They provide alternative access and
circulation to the properties which minimize conflicts on U.S. 41, a high traffic volume primary arterial
roadway. There is currently no known regular maintenance being performed in the alleys. The
maintenance of these two alleys would be best served by the Road Maintenance Division because
conditions have deteriorated such that the County desires to assume maintenance in order to provide for
the health, safety and welfare of the residents, businesses and visitors who utilize the alleys.
The subject alleys were dedicated to the public via the Naples Twin Lake plat as recorded in Plat Book 4,
Page 36, which states, "the boulevard, circles, avenues, drives and streets as shown on the attached
plat ... are hereby dedicated to the perpetual use of the public for proper purposes..."
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding of approximately $1,000 will be expended for minor repairs currently
needed to improve the condition of the alleys. Regular, ongoing maintenance will then become a part of
the committed annual funding included as part of the Road Maintenance budget within Transportation
Fund 101. The source of funds is the General Fund.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved as to form and legality, and requires a
majority vote for Board approval - SAS
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize the Road Maintenance Division to take over maintenance of the
two 20 -foot public alleys located within the Naples Twin Lakes subdivision, as depicted on the attached
map.
