EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Melissa Pearson, Contract Administration Specialist, Growth
Management Department as the November 2016 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Melissa Pearson, Contract Administration Specialist, Road Maintenance, has
been with the County since 2015 and works for the Growth Management Department.
Melissa came to the Road Maintenance Division in 2015 after serving 16 years in the Sheriff's Office
purchasing department. She is a member of the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials and
brings a wealth of knowledge to our organization. She is often sought out to assist other divisions within the
County when putting together one of the Road Maintenance contracts. Melissa recently was tasked with
writing the specs for an airboat purchase for Road Maintenance. She had no prior experience with airboats
so she researched the product and sought out professionals to give her advice and insight into what was
needed and required for the purchase. She created a detailed checklist and made frequent trips to the vendor
to be sure the boat was being built according to the specifications in the contract. Melissa is extremely
detailed orientated and fully focused on the task at hand. She has earned a reputation for being professional
and is well respected with vendors and employees alike. Her easy going, practical approach to projects
makes her a pleasure to work with, and she is very deserving of the Employee of the Month award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected"Employee of the Month"receives a$150.00 cash award. Funds are
available in the employee's Budget Cost Center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the recognition of Melissa
Pearson as Employee of the Month for November 2016.
