EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to request that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) modify
existing destination guide signs erected on Interstate 75 (I-75) at or near Exit 111 (Immokalee
Road)from"Naples Park"to"North Naples".
OBJECTIVE: To request that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) modify existing
destination guide signs erected on Interstate 75 (I-75) at or near Exit 111 from "Naples Park" to "North
Naples".
CONSIDERATIONS: In response to a request from the public received in September 2016, Traffic
Operation's staff reviewed the destination guide signs along the I-75 corridor. It was determined that,
although Naples Park is a neighborhood that can be reached using the interchange at Immokalee Road
(Exit 111), it is not the first, nor the primary destination of today's motorists. The neighborhood in north
Naples known as "Naples Park" was one of the more populated areas in the 1950s, and therefore all
existing signs near Exit 111 state "Naples Park". However, over the last several decades, other
neighborhoods grew and communities were developed. This has led to different destination points, and
the larger general area of which Naples Park is a part, is now more commonly referred to as "North
Naples."
Attached is a Resolution for Board of County Commissioners (Board) approval, stating that "North
Naples" is the preferred designation to be used in advance of and at Exit 111 on Interstate 75. Also
attached is a letter to be signed by the Chairman and sent to FDOT requesting the modification of the
Naples Park signs.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no Fiscal Impact to the County. The affected signage is under the FDOT
jurisdictional control and maintenance.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved as to form and legality, and requires a
majority vote for Board approval. - SAS
RECOMMENDATION: To approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Resolution and send the
attached correspondence requesting the FDOT to modify existing destination guide signs on I-75 at or
near Exit 111 (Immokalee Road)from"Naples Park"to"North Naples".

signs approaching Immokalee Road (Exit 111) indicating "Naples Park" be modified to reflect N
