Resolution 2016-221 RESOLUTION NO. 2016 - 2 21 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO ACCELERATE FUNDING FOR STATE ROAD 82 ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS,A STRATEGIC INTERMODAL FACILITY WHEREAS, the Board of Collier County Commissioners (the "Board") has adopted the Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization's (MPO) long range transportation plan into the Board's Growth Management Plan; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida has established the Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) to identify transportation corridors, facilities and services of statewide and interregional significance; and WHEREAS, State Road 82 serves many existing and planned commercial mining operations; and WHEREAS, State Road 82 serves the agribusiness industry of Immokalee, a newly designated Federal Rural Promise Zone; and WHEREAS, State Road 82 serves several thousand regional transportation trips on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, the Board finds that the needs related to State Road 82 projects are of utmost importance to health, safety,welfare and economic development of the area; and WHEREAS,the Board supports that State Road 82 construction projects be accelerated. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners that: 1. The Board hereby supports and endorses the acceleration of State Road 82 construction projects for the health, safety, welfare and economic development of our community and the general travelling public. 2. The Board hereby finds that State Road 82 is of critical importance to our community and consistent with the State's interest in promoting the travelling needs of the public. 1 • THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED this 25th day of October,2016,after motion, second and majority vote in favor of adoption.
