PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Marco Island Woman's Club, founded October 24, 1966, began its
"Celebration of 50 Years of Giving Back"in January of this year with
the highlight of official recognition of the 50th Anniversary date of
October 24,' 2016; and,
WHEREAS, Marco Island Woman's Club many accomplishments include: providing
college scholarships for Marco Island students; funding a Patriotic
Bench at the Flag Plaza and a plaque at the Freedom Fountain at
Veterans' Community Park-Marco Island; founding of the Marco Island
Public Library; donating funds for the Marco Health Care Center and
Naples Community Hospital; initiating the original youth center which
grew into the present Greater Marco Family YMCA; and restoring the
Marco Island Historical Cemetery and maintaining a garden therein;
and,
WHEREAS, Marco Island Woman's Club raises and donates funds each year for
college scholarships as well as other civic and health organizations;
and,
WHEREAS, Marco Island Woman's Club recently made donations of more than
$40,000 to: Adonis Autism Assistance Foundation, Inc.; Lighthouse of
Collier County, Inc.; Marco Island Academy; Marco Island Center for
the Arts; Marco Island Kiwanis Foundation, Inc.; Marco Island
Woman's Club Education Foundation; and The Shelter for Abused
Women cf Children of Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that the week of October 24th - 301h, 2016 be
designated as
MARCO ISLAND WOMAN'S CLUB WEEK
