Backup Documents 11/18/2014 Item # 4B 4B PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is a true American institution chartered by the United States Congress instilling timeless values in youth since its founding in 1910; and WHEREAS, this national youth movement has made serving others through its values-based program its mission; and WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America has helped millions of youth succeed in life by living the Boy Scout Oath and Law; and WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is committed to offering the opportunity of Scouting and its outdoor adventure to all youth regardless of race, creed, nationality, or economic status; and WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America, Southwest Florida Council and its Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venturing Crews, Explorer Posts, and Learning for Life programs are celebrating Scouting's 104th anniversary in America. The program is staying current with today's educational needs with Science, Technology, and Math Nova program; and WHEREAS, there are more than 120 community organizations and 3,775 dedicated volunteers that make Scouting available for more than 19,000 youth members in Southwest Florida who participate in the Scouting program as a means of character building, citizenship training, and personal fitness; and WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is the largest organization in Collier County providing youth leadership training with over 1,300 youth and over 550 adult volunteers participating; and, WHEREAS, citizens of Collier County express their appreciation to every man and woman, youth and adult whose participation in the Boy Scouts of America has created the greatest youth leadership program in the world. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that November 2014 be designated as JOIN SCOUTING MONTH DONE AND ORDERED THIS 18th Day of November, 2014.
