EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize and appropriate revenue obtained through the dissolution of the
Fire Code Official's Office to the Ochopee Fire Control District's Operating Budget in the amount
of $15,000 and approve the necessary budget amendment.
OBJECTIVE: To appropriate funds that will be used to re -program the Ochopee Fire Control District's
800 MHZ radios for the purpose of conforming to the new dispatch system, replace aging equipment, and
purchase hardware for essential repairs.
CONSIDERATIONS: On December 8, 2015 the Board of County Commissioners approved the Hold
Harmless Agreement which enabled the release of funds portioned out in shares to each Fire Department
due to the dissolution of the Fire Code Official's Office. Ochopee Fire Control District received $15,000,
which was placed in Revenue under Protective Inspections. Staff recommends using these funds to
replace equipment and purchase hardware to facilitate repairs to existing devices and to reprogram the
District's 800 MHZ radios to conform to the new dispatch system.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment is necessary to recognize and appropriate revenue as follows:
$6,000 into Communications Equipment Repair and Maintenance, $6,000 into Minor Operating
Equipment, and $3,000 into Other Operating Expenses.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the necessary budget
amendment in the amount of $15,000 in order to recognize and appropriate these funds obtained through
the dissolution of the Fire Code Official's Office.
