EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept a $25,000 donation from the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee
for destination marketing and promotion, authorize the necessary budget amendment and
make a finding that this item promotes tourism.
OBJECTIVE: Accept a donation on behalf of the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Seminole Tribe of Florida recently opened a new hotel on the
grounds of the Seminole Casino in Immokalee. The hotel is the Seminole Casino Hotel
Immokalee and is located on the Seminole Tribe Reservation. This location on the Reservation
means that the hotel is exempt from collecting and paying the Collier County Tourist
Development Tax on room sales. In recognition of the hotel's working relationship with the
Tourism Division and our efforts to promote the activities at or near the casino and the special
events that the Seminole Tribe brings to the community, the Casino Hotel would like to make a
donation to Collier County in the amount of$25,000 annually beginning in 2016. This donation
is voluntary as the Casino Hotel is not required by law to collect the Tourist Development Tax.
The Tribe has requested,and the Tourism Division recommends that this donation be designated
for use in destination marketing and promotion, Category"B" expenditures in support of special
events at or near the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee in FY 16 that promote tourism.
FISCAL IMPACT: The amount of the donation is $25,000. The funds will be deposited into
TDC Tourism Promotion Fund 184 to be used for destination marketing expenditures. A budget
amendment is required to appropriate these funds into the FY16 budget.
ADVISORY BOARD RECOMMENDATION: The Tourist Development Council
recommended approval of this item 5-0 at the October 26,2015 meeting.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved as to form and legality and
requires majority vote for approval.—CMG

Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee for destination marketing and promotion, authorize the
necessary budget amendment and make a fmding that this item promotes tourism.
