PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Collier Area Transit services are vital to the quality of life and economic well
being of all citizens in Collier County; and
WHEREAS, Collier Area Transit is celebrating 15-years of excellent transit service in
February 2016, operating nineteen routes and providing transit services to
over one million passengers annually; and
WHEREAS, Collier Area Transit public transportation is making a difference in the daily
lives of senior citizens, people with disabilities, workers, and those unable to
afford an automobile by enabling them to gain access to health care, jobs,
and other fundamental services in Collier County; and
WHEREAS, Collier Area Transit public transportation services help Collier
County achieve its goals of providing safe, affordable and reliable
transportation, protecting the environment by reducing fuel consumption,
conserving energy, improving quality of live by promoting self reliance and
independence for those most in need and providing for the health, safety and
security of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Collier County wishes to promote transit's benefits, honor transit employees,
express appreciation to all our riders, and acknowledge the value of the
transportation services provided to the community by Collier Area Transit on
the occasion of the system's 15th service anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Collier County residents and visitors are invited to ride CAT free on Friday,
February 12, 2016 in recognition of our 15"' anniversary celebration.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that February 12, 2016 be designated as:
Collier Area Transit's 15"'Anniversary Celebration Day
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 9th Day of February 2016.
