PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, That Culture and the Arts are thriving in Collier County, and contributing to
the quality of life and economic well being for thousands of residents and
tourists each year; and,
WHEREAS, the local area is well known for its beautiful beaches and surrounding
preserves and wildlife, we are also a cultural hotspot for artists, museums,
and live theater; and,
WHEREAS, the Cultural Alliance of Marco Island and Good/and (CAMIG) Founding
Members -- the Marco Players, the Marco Island Center for the Arts, the
Greater Marco Family YMCA, the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts, the
Marco Is/and Historical Society, the Island Theater Company, and the
Good/and Arts Alliance -- have a long history in the community and are
organizations devoted to the arts, history, and enrichment for children and
families, retirees, residents, business, and tourists; and,
WHEREAS, CAMIG serves as a unified voice promoting cultural awareness and activities
that enhance the quality of life and economic growth on Marco Island and
Goodland; and,
WHEREAS, a 'Cultural Carnivale' sponsored by CAMI6 will be held on Wednesday,
February 3 in Marco Island; free of charge for residents and tourists of all
ages interested in learning more about the broad array of cultural activities
and amenities in the local area;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that February 3rd, 2016, be designated as
"CULTURAL ARTS DAY IN COLLIER COUNTY"; AND THAT THE
PUBLIC IS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND CAMIG'S "'CULTURAL
CARNIVALE. "
