Backup Documents 09/09/2014 Item # 4B 48 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The Brotherhood Ride organization formed in 2007 after nine firefighters in Charleston, South Carolina died in the line of duty. Lieutenant Jeff Morse and wife, Candy, wanted to demonstrate that the loss of those heroes would never be forgotten; and, WHEREAS, The Brotherhood Ride is a non-profit 501(c)(3)public charity organization consisting of Firefighters, Police Officers and EMS personnel who bicycle with a mission to provide emotional and financial support to the families of first responders who have fallen in the line of duty; and, WHEREAS, Over the past six years, Brotherhood Ride has cycled over 4,700 miles, through 16 states, often assisted by over 40 Elks Lodges, Past Brotherhood rides include cycling to Charleston, South Carolina; throughout Florida; Houston, Texas; New York City; and Tennessee; and, WHEREAS, The 2014 Brotherhood hood Ride be g an Au g ust 1 Sr at North Naples Fire Station #45, to Clewiston and Port St. Lucie, then cycling to Lake Placid, ending in Port Charlotte on August 4th; and, WHEREAS, The 2014 Brotherhood Ride honored four Law Enforcement Officers; Sergeant Mike Wilson from Charlotte County, Sergeant Gary Morales from St. Lucie County, Master Deputy Sheriff Joseph "Shane"Robbins from Polk County, and Deputy Sheriff Daniel Rivera from Broward County. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that a grateful Board recognizes the Brotherhood Ride Organization, DONE AND ORDERED THIS 9th Day of September 2014.
