Backup Documents 09/09/2014 Item # 4A 4A 1 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, since 1957, the United Way of Collier County has sponsored and funded qualified, non-profit community agencies to advance the common good by providing essential health and human services to our citizens; and, WHEREAS, throughout the 57-year history of the United Way of Collier County, the organization has helped hundreds of thousands of citizens, demonstrated continued growth, and is currently funding hundreds of programs and services through 34 community agencies that serve all areas of Collier County; and, WHEREAS, the services of the United Way of Collier County have resulted in assisting one in three citizens of Collier County each year via the utilization of the funding it provides member agencies and the administration of Collier 211 - a non-emergency helpline; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, the Clerk of Courts, the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the Office of Elections, the Property Appraiser's Office and the Collier County Tax Collector gratefully acknowledge and support the fine work of the United Way of Collier County and its member agencies; and, WHEREAS, as never before, the challenges facing citizens of Collier County have resulted in the United Way of Collier County straining its resources to be able to meet the escalating demands of over 100,000 residents; and, WHEREAS, as never before, the United Way of Collier County needs both citizens and visitors to help respond to the funding appeals in these desperate times as the numbers of families and individuals grows, so please reach deep and give generously. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that THE UNITED WAY OF COLLIER COUNTY is formally recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community and we wish them yet another year of great success as the organization kicks off its 2014-2015 initiative to positively impact our community.
