Hughes Company. While we are hopeful that the Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Environmental Protection will be able to resolve any questions associated with the consent order with the Dan A. Hughes Company, CRC will take immediate action to address the important issue of water quality that was raised at the Commission meeting earlier this week through groundwater modeling and water testing. And, in order to ensure total transparency, CRC will collaborate with Collier County staff to select an independent groundwater expert to test the water around this particular well. The results of the testing would be made available to the public. and would be independently verifiable. CRC will pay for the testing. For the past few months, we have been watching this debate closely and we completely understand the public's concern. However, we have been engaged in oil exploration in Southwest Florida for over 70 years and have an impeccable environmental record. We believe a significant amount of misinformation has been reported in the media and by third parties, and that the general public does not know that the deep oil producing areas are separated from the aquifer by over 2 miles of rock. We need to set the record straight and feel this proposal will bring closure to this issue. Finally, as good environmental stewards and as a dedicated community partner, we have a strong interest in ensuring that Collier County's groundwater resources are preserved and protected. To that end,we will undertake this science based-solution to clear up any confusion.
