PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami has strongly and
effectively promoted bilateral economic and cultural relations since the
establishment of the Office in Miami in 1988 and the consequent
establishment of the sister-state relations between the Province of Taiwan
and the State of Florida in 1992; and,
WHEREAS, Taiwan has established itself economically as the world's 'Silicon Island, "
created exceptional research parks such as Hsinchu Science and Industrial
Park and built prestigious and highly successful high tech incubators,
including the Industrial Tech Research Institute (ITRI); and,
WHEREAS, Taiwan is home to leading universities in science, engineering and
technology, and pioneered and developed the world's leading fabless
semiconductor industry; and,
WHEREAS, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office has developed wonderful relations
and connections with Southwest Florida and Collier County on past visits to
our region; and,
WHEREAS, Collier County has worked to develop a world-class environment and business
culture that supports start-up and innovation companies from all over the
world; and,
WHEREAS, Collier County offers a superior lifestyle and standard of living for its
companies, residents, visitors and guests; and,
WHEREAS, Collier County has consistently welcomed with great pleasure Taiwanese
companies, businesses and entrepreneurs seeking to develop business
opportunities in our region.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that Collier County looks forward to hosting
Taiwanese companies and facilitating strategic linkages between our companies and
organizations that enable them _to be successful in growing their business opportunities
across the world.
