Backup Documents 04/22/2014 Item # 4G f#,S,e '2p k: , 167-7,::;04'irizt.liti PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the National Day of Prayer is a day set aside by Congress for all Americans to pray and reaffirm the spiritual principles upon which this nation was founded; and WHEREAS, in Collier County, we are fortunate to have been blessed by our Creator with beautiful beaches, rivers, lakes, fields, forests and a people who, through hard work and intellectual effort and toil, have made countless cultural, industrial, agricultural and educational advancements for the enrichment of life for all our citizens; and WHEREAS, prayer has comforted us in times of sorrow and given us strength and hope for the future. We ask 6od to keep His hand upon us and bless Collier County, the great State of Florida and the United States of America; and WHEREAS, we continue to give thanks for the men and women of the military that are defending freedom, and we humbly ask 6od for their protection and pray for peace throughout the world; and WHEREAS, this year is the 63"d anniversary of the consecutive annual observance of the National Day of Prayer, and the theme One Voice, United in Prayer is based on Romans 15:6, "So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the 6od and Father of our lord Jesus Christ;"and, WHEREAS, on May 1, 2014, Americans across our nation, state and the county will unite in prayer to give thanks for the many blessings our country has received and pray for God's blessings and protection upon our leaders and our nation. sr NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that May 1st, 2014 be designated as NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER DONE AND ORDERED THIS 22"d Day of April, 2014.
