Backup Documents 04/22/2014 Item # 4D. - -,T ',- '-, -,-,,e.,,,,;,,, ,,,7:4..,,:iy,, ,, „,, v ,,,itvt, -._ ' 4 : 4a y PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Drug addiction is a community-wide problem, requiring a community- wide response; and, WHEREAS, Drug-related crime causes hundreds of thousands of dollars of losses each year to Collier County's residents, businesses and government, and WHEREAS, Drug Courts focus on reducing crime and saving money through a program of intensive intervention and treatment for addicts in the Criminal Justice System; and WHEREAS, Drug Courts achieve these goals by emphasizing accountability, honesty and personal responsibility on the part of the addict; and WHEREAS, Drug Courts aim to help these individuals find a lasting recovery that ;1,1,;;:v make whole their victims, and allows them to repair their relationships, .. become contributing members of society; and ,,M..; . . ,,.,' ' WHEREAS, Drug Courts facilitate community-wide partnerships, bringing together public safety and public health professionals in the fight against drug addiction and criminality; and, WHEREAS, Collier County is committed to reducing crime, supporting recovery from addiction, and saving community resources.
