WHEREAS, the SWFL Youth Empowerment Project, formally known as the Mother Perry Youth
Empowerment Project, has joined forces with community leaders from various
backgrounds and organizations to present the 2"d Annual Southwest Florida Youth
X-Plosion cc Youth Empowerment Day 2014; and
WHEREAS, this event brings together youth, parents, community leaders and youth related
organizations to motivate younger generations to bridge the gap between
themselves and their communities; and
WHEREAS, the primary objective is to equip, encourage and empower Southwest Florida youth
to find their purpose in life, increase youth leadership, and inspire participants to
become stakeholders in their futures and their communities; by influencing
participants to dream big, make big plans, and become big leaders; and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 12, 2014, Immokalee High School will host the 2"d Southwest
Florida Youth X-Plosion d Youth Empowerment Day 2014, which will include
internationally known motivational speakers and attract youth from more than 25
Collier County schools; and
WHEREAS, the SWFLYEP believes in empowering and challenging students to make a
difference in their lives and hopes that this free event will positively impact
hundreds of Collier County students to do so.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that April 12th, 2014 be designated as
COLLIER COUNTY YOUTH EMPOWERMENT DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 8th Day of April, 2014.
