Backup Documents 04/08/2014 Item # 4A PROCLAMATION 4 A WHEREAS, water is a basic and essential need of every living creature; and WHEREAS, the state of Florida, the Water Management Districts, and Collier County are working together to increase awareness about the importance of water conservation; and WHEREAS, April, typically a dry month when water demands are highest, is annually designated as Water Conservation Month to educate citizens about how they can help save Florida's precious water resources; and WHEREAS, the state of Florida, together with local partners, is investing billions of dollars to develop alternative water supplies; clean up stormwater pollution; restore rivers, lakes and springs; upgrade drinking water facilities and improve wastewater treatment; and WHEREAS, Collier County encourages and supports water conservation through various educational programs, conservation rate structures, special events, and, most importantly, by treating wastewater influent and distributing billions of gallons of reclaimed water for beneficial reuse as irrigation quality water; and WHEREAS, every business, industry, school, and citizen can make a difference and help by efficiently using water, thus promoting a healthy community and economy. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that April 2014 be designated as WATER CONSERVATION MONTH DONE AND ORDERED THIS 8th Day of April 2014.
