PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Fire marsha/s are responsible for the fire safety code adoption and enforcement,
fire and arson investigations, fire incident data reporting, analysis and public
education; and
WHEREAS, Shawn Hanson earned an Associate in Arts degree from Edison Community College
in .1998 and continues her education towards a Bachelor Public Administration; and
WHEREAS, Shawn Hanson began as a fire Prevention Specialist with the City of Nap/es in
2001, next as a Fire Inspector with the Immoka/ee Fire Control District in 2004,
and then joined the East Naples Fire Control and Rescue District in October of
2005; and
WHEREAS, Over the next ten years, Shawn Hanson moved up through the ranks to Captain
and in February of 2014 was promoted to Chief of the Fire d Life Safety Division
of the East Naples Fire Control and Rescue District, now the Greater Naples Fire
Rescue District; and
WHEREAS, As Division Chief, Shawn Hanson serves as Fire Marshal for Greater Naples,
Ochopee and District One; and
WHEREAS, The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association awarded Chief Hanson the
Fire Marshal of the Year Award in November 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Governor of the State of Florida presented Chief Shawn Hanson with the
2014 Florida fire Marshal of the Year Resolution; and
WHEREAS, Chief Shawn Hanson demonstrates outstanding leadership ability by inspiring and
motivating those around her, and provides exemplary service to the community as
a true fire service professional.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that May 26th 2015 is designated as:
Fire Marshal Shawn Hanson Appreciation Day in Collier County
