Backup Documents 03/10/2015 Item # 4E 4E PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on behalf of the residents of Collier County, the Board of Collier County Commissioners would like to honor "the face of Naples,"Murray Hendel; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Hendel, perhaps more than any other person outside of county or city government, has been the go-to person to get things done in Collier County; and, WHEREAS, A CPA by training, a distinguished Air Force veteran and government official, Mr. Hendel received the National Presidential Award and a Presidential Citation while serving the Treasury Department in Washington. He later served as financial officer for a number of international companies,' and, WHEREAS, After moving to Naples, Mr. Hendel has continued his public service, chairing the Tourist Development Council; serving as president of the Collier County Presidents Council, the Holocaust Museum of Southwest Florida and the Gulf Shore Association of Condominiums; founding and currently heading the Collier Citizens Council; served as director of the Greater Nap/es Chamber of Commerce; and was a past member of the city's Audit Committee and Financial Planning Committee, and the county's Coastal Advisory Committee; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Hendel is also the recipient of the Samuel Noe Award from the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and the 2010 recipient of the Community Leadership Award from Beth Tikvah; and, WHEREAS, Whenever something needed to be done, Mr. Hendel met the call. Most recently, he assisted in the fund raising efforts to complete the Freedom Memorial; a project honoring our veterans and first responders; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Hendel's leadership and contributions over the years are unmatched. He embodies what community service is and should be; and, WHEREAS, The Board of Collier County Commissioners would like to officially recognize Mr. Hendel for a lifetime of dedicated service. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Collier County Board of County Commissioners hereby honors the work and contributions of Murray Hendel to the Collier County community.
