Backup Documents 01/27/2015 Item # 4E 4E PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners created the freedom Memorial project in 2004 asking the community to donate funds to build a memorial recognizing the freedoms provided by the sacrifice of others; and WHEREAS, the freedom Memorial provides recognition for men and women who died on September 11, 2001 and the heroic efforts of the men and women serving in the U.S. Military protecting our freedom; and WHEREAS, the Freedom Memorial is partially completed and is located at the Fred W. Coyle Freedom Park on Go/den sate Parkway; and WHEREAS, the campaign for the Freedom Memorial still needs $1.2 million to complete construction; and WHEREAS, financial support for the Freedom Memorial has slowed, and efforts are being made to rejuvenate community interest in this important project; and WHEREAS, every dollar donated goes towards completing the construction of the Freedom Memorial and community members, residents and visitors are invited to donate directly to the fund to renew community support in the project; and WHEREAS, the public may also purchase inscribed bricks to have placed in the memory of a loved one which will also provide project financial support; and, WHEREAS, The freedom Memorial Foundation of Naples will host a fundraising dinner party on February 20, 2015 to rejuvenate cash f/ow into the project and community interest, and the public is invited to attend the fundraiser by purchasing a $250 or $500 entry ticket.
