Good Morning,
On Item#2E of Tuesday's BCC meeting agenda (01/14/2014), we request that Commissioner Nance (VAB Chairman) and
Commissioner Henning (VAB Vice-Chairman) remain as the current officers of the VAB.
All of the documents that have gone out and are being prepared for the final 2013 VAB meeting show Commissioner
Nance as the VAB Chairman and he was appointed Chairman by the current 2013 VAB Board.The current board consists
of Commissioner Nance, Commissioner Henning, School Board Member Carroll, Homestead Citizen Member Allia and
Business Citizen Member Poteet.All members have confirmed their attendance for their final VAB meeting set for the
middle of March, including Commissioners Nance and Henning. The meeting would potentially have to be changed if
the membership was adjusted at this late date, if the other commissioner had a scheduling conflict.
If this change of appointment occurs, the VAB would be required to notify the Department of Revenue (DOR) of this
late-cycle change as all contact information of the Board membership had to be submitted to the DOR early last month.
All documents and programming of the electronic VAB system would have to be changed to incorporate different
commissioners now serving as chairman or vice-chairman at the end of the VAB 2013 cycle. All VAB documents should
be consistent throughout the tax year cycle concerning the Value Adjustment Board and signed by the current
appointed chairman.
We respectfully request a waiver of the new BCC appointments to the Value Adjustment Board until we have finished
the 2013 VAB cycle.The 2014 VAB Cycle begins in July and we request that the new BCC appointments begin at that
time.The VAB process runs from July 1st through June 30th, so the appointments to that Board should run with that
same timeframe.
