Press Release PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 3, 1996 The Collier County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees. The Black Affairs Advisory Board has 1 vacancy due to a resignation, expiring on June 25, 1998. This 9 member committee identifies and evaluates problems unique to the Black Community, reviews and recommends ways to ensure open communication between the minorities and Collier County Government and provides periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. The Board of Adjustments and Appeals has 1 term expiring on August 9, 1996, in the category of mechanical contractor. This board hears appeals on rejections by the building official as to the materials or mode of construction used on a structure. Terms are 4 years and meetings are held quarterly or on an as-needed basis. Members must file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests each year with the Supervisor of Elections. The Council of Economic Advisors has 2 terms expiring on August 2, 1996. This council consists of 12 members and was created to provide assistance,advice,reports and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding efficient and effective methods that the Board can use to increase economic opportunities and increase and diversify the economic base in Collier County. Applicants for this position should have a background in Economics, Business, Planning, Community or Economic Development. After initial staggered terms,members will serve 4 year terms. The Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council has 3 terms expiring on August 31, 1996, representing Commission Districts 1, 2, and 5. This 11 member council advises the Board of County Commissioners on all aspects of emergency medical services, including the operational budget, level of service and equipment. Terms are 3 years. The Forest Lakes Roadway and Drainage Advisory Committee has 1 vacancy due to a resignation, expiring on April 21, 1998. This 5 member committee aids and assists the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the purposes of providing and maintaining improved roadway related drainage and roadway restoration within the area of the Unit as set forth in County Ordinance No. 91-107. They also prepare and recommend an itemized budget,work programs and priorities. Applicants must reside within the Forest Lakes Roadway and Drainage Municipal Service Taxing Unit. Terms are 4 years. June 3, 1996 press release continued - The Golden Gate Estates Land Trust Committee has 1 vacancy due to a resignation, expiring on October 13, 1997. This 5 member committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners for the purpose of carrying out the requirements, conditions and various provisions of an Agreement relating to the use of land, or funds derived from the sale of land, conveyed to the County by Avatar Properties Inc._(f/k/a GAC Properties Inc.). Applicants must reside within the subdivision known as "Golden Gate Estates." Member selection may depend upon location of residence within specific areas (phases) of the Estates. Terms are 4 years. The Historic/Archaeological Preservation Board has 1 vacancy in the category of At-Large. The term will expire on October 1, 1998. This 7 member board is vested with the power, authority, and jurisdiction to designate,regulate, and administer historical,and archaeological resources in Collier County,under the direct jurisdiction and control of the Board of County Commissioners. Members must comply with the financial disclosure laws of the State of Florida. Terms are 3 year The Collier County Utility Authority has 1 vacancy due to a resignation. This 5 member council was established on February 27, 1996,by Ordinance No. 96-6 to regulate utility rates and related matters regarding non-exempt water and wastewater utilities in unincorporated Collier County. Three members shall be technical in nature,with expertise in engineering, finance and/or business administration. The remaining 2 members shall be appointed on the basis of individual civic pride, integrity, and experience in any area of regulation. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests each year with the Supervisor of Elections. After initial staggered terms, the terms will be 4 years. Members of the advisory committees must be residents and electors of Collier County.
