Bob Laird, Chairman, called the regular monthly meeting of the Collier County EMSAC
to order.
The minutes of the August 30th meeting were approved,
There were not enough members present for a quorum.
Captain Noemi Fraguela, showed a video of the EMS Department that reflects all of the
things the EMS Department is involved in.
Chief Flagg:
The Department is finishing the Basic Water Rescue course for approximately
170 colleagues. Each EMS unit will be equipped with water rescue equipment and all
personnel will be trained. 5 residents have lost their lives when their car went into a
canal. The other agency's that do participate in a water rescue course cannot respond
quickly enough to be effective. Prior to this training, the response to these incidents by
other agencies is prolonged as they are responding from home and off duty .
The EMS Department presently has 93 active AED sites in the community.
The Board has approved the purchase of the property on the East side on Santa Barbara at
Davis Boulevard.
The Billing Department has done extremely well and went above their recent goal to
collect $160,000 before the Fiscal year end. We will be able to go ahead with the Gray
Oaks Station west of Airport Road next to the Poinciana School due to their recent effort.
A discussion was held in reference to the indigent care and ways to fund this service in
Collier County.
The meeting was adjourned.
