Minutes 03/14/1990 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL A G E N D A March 14 , 1990 New Business: Newspaper Articles on EMS Demonstration of EMS Equipment Discussion of Absenteeism 1 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL Minutes March 14, 1990 MEMBERS PRESENT: Fred Hubbard Chuck Buell Karen Davidson Jack Winters Chief Coggans STAFF PRESENT: George Barton Meeting called to order 4:08 P.M. in Room "C" of Development Services on Horseshoe Drive. The committee decided unanimously that Room "E" was preferred and it will be the location for the next meeti�ng.— Comments were solicited on the articles in the Naples Daily News. The discussion which ensued demonstrated the fact that the majority of the articles appeared to be favorable to the educational needs and desires of EMS. George Barton then made a presentation on the Tuesday Board of County Commissioners meeting, March 13, 1990. Discussion ensued with the Board on transportation services provided to non-ememgency patients moving from Immokalee to Naples Community Hospital. The Board encouraged the Director to utilize the phrasing "Clinic Patient Referral" instead of any referral to patient transport services provided by EMS. The financial report for FY 90 to date was presented. The significance of the report were obvious to all concerned. The unanimous consent of the Board suggested a letter of congratulations to Jack Wampler and staff were appropriate and the Director was requested to prepare such a document for the Chair's signature. Financial review of the current health care situation in Collier County began. General discussion will be appropriate secondary to the development of funding priorities within Emergency Medical Services as well as in the County. The Board tabled any discussion of absenteeism pending research and presentation of the appropriate documents on absenteeism at the next meeting.
