Minutes 12/13/1989 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL Minutes for December 13 , 1989 Members Present: Fred Hubbard Dr. Polkowski Karen Davidson Jack Winters Chuck Buell Bill Erickson The advisory council was welcomed to Marco Island Urgent Care Center by Rita Benton and Jackie Barnes. Mrs. Barnes conducted a tour of the facility including the EMS crews quarters. November minutes were approved and accepted and the business meeting addressed the following issues: OLD BUSINESS The boards members advised Mr. Barton to address the EMS issue of 911 access and charges for response of EMS units when non-parent school teachers or other leaders of youth programs are concerned about a patients health. George Barton will supply a reply for the issue at the next meeting. The finance sub-committee has not met. GB will conduct meetings with individual members of the sub-committee. NEW BUSINESS The advisory counsel proposed to meet in Immokalee for the January meeting. The January meeting will be held on January 17 , 1990 , one week after the normal meeting due to the Director' s absence at the State EMS conference in Tampa. Members are to meet at 2 : 00 PM at EMS Headquarters for transport and tour of Immokalee EMS station 6 & 7 and the Collier Health Services Clinic area. Jack Winter offered to assist George Barton in coordinating the visit. The actual advisory counsel meeting will occur in the library. Members of the advisory council will be returned to EMS Headquarters at approximately 5 :30 PM on the 17th. George Barton reviewed plans for hurricane procedures. Discussion followed on EMS ' s commitment to Marco Island when evacuation is recommended but not mandated. The advisory council directed George Barton to coordinate resource commitment on the Island with the Sheriff, the Urgent Care Center, and the fire department. EMS equipment demonstrated consisted of the EMS unit truck 8. Members of the advisory council were driven to and from the Island by Training/Safety Officer Diane Flagg. George Barton presented the elements of subscription plans now being sold in the local TV market by Charlotte EMS.
