Minutes 02/12/1986 MINUTES OF EMSAC MEETING 2-12-86 Meeting brought to order at 4PM by Chiefljams. Under old business Dr. Ehrhardt mentioned that he attended the January 86 EMSAC meeting . Louise Weiner informed the Council that the HRS permit for the volunteer Gateway Ambulance service was mailed today from Tallahassee and pending recipt of the permit they could be operational by this weekend. Doug Greenfield continued the discussion on vehicular control from the previous meeting and discused the controls EMS management utilizes (tachographs ) on all EMS ambulances. Bill Erickson requested that an actual tachograph be brought to the next meeting so that the entire Council could better understand what is being recorded. Doug Greenfield will plan to do this. Under new business Doug Greenfield gave the following report : 1 . Communications : A meeting was held last Friday 2-7-86 with the County Departments who might have a need for an extended radius of radio communications. The needs requirements of each department are now being assessed in anticipation of developing actual tower specifications. 2. The new Western Gateway Ambulance will be referred to as EMS 550 in dispatch and unit identification. 3. It has been decided that the helicopter will not be utilized after dark. Safety is of the utmost concern. Inter facility transports will be limited to a maximum range of 60 miles. Training has already begun with the EMS Supervisors. The helicopter is now listed "For Sale" with a brokerage firm. The recent State EMS meeting attended by Doug Greenfield , discussed the Omnibus bill which will provide for common dates of license and certification for paramedics. In addition the Trauma bill has now been re-written and appears to be well on its way for passage by the State Legislature. CCEMS will adopt a Champion patient scoring system as out- lined under the proposed bill . The State EMS system also decided to fully support cooperation with the FHP and other related services in establishing a successful helicopter service throughout the State of Florida. P. 2 CCEMS will shortly acquire a video tape about the Organ Donor program which in turn will be made available to the citizens of Collier County. Jack Wampler informed the Council that the O' Briens recently paid all of their EMS bills in full plus related court costs . Meeting adjourned 4:50PM.
