MINUTES OF THE
EMPLOYEE ADVISORY COUNCIL (EMSEAC)
MEMBERS PRESENT: Diane Flagg , Debbie Lichliter, Jeff Page,
• Denny Hare , Terry Ortengren
GUESTS: Doug Greenfield, Skip Camp , Bill Griffin ,
Barry Flagg
0950 Meeting opened by Diane Flagg. Reading of minutes of the last
EMSEAC meeting on 10/20/83 with the following comments :
1000 OLD BUSINESS:
Comment was made by Terry Ortengren that EMSEAC members who are
not able to make the meetings should call her to let her know.
Terry is not certain who to contact after the meetings . Doug
Greenfield pointed out the EMSEAC members should contact Diane
Flagg when they are not going to make a meeting.
1020 Diane stated that the new elections for EMSEAC would be coming
up in January. Doug Greenfield suggested the EMSEAC should
possibly serve from April or May 1st for one year. This will be
the first item for the new EMSEAC to vote on. This item will be
discussed under new business .
1030 A meeting with the part-timers will be set up in the near future,
either after the holidays or after elections .
1040 The JAWS are off of 510 and 510 now uses a modular ambulance for
first response. Barry Flagg is working with Immokalee Fire Dept.
for use of the JAWS within the region covered by 510 in the past.
A class is being set up for 14 people with an instructor from
Ft. Myers . This will include Immokalee Fire Dept . personnel and
EMS personnel . No response has been forthcoming from Immokalee,
but is expected.
1050 The Form 83-106 for employees to report to EMSEAC are not being
gotten to the respective members . These should be placed with
tickets and the supervisors will forward them to Diane.
1055 NEW BUSINESS:
Bob Elliott is now a part time Paramedic and will be attending
all of Dr. Tober' s meetings .
Dr. Tober' s meetings for C.E.U. ' s are to be submitted to the
State. Doug Greenfield pointed out that there is money available
for all the Paramedics to go to at least one conference or
training session a year.
MINUTES OF THE EMPLOYEE ADVISORY COUNCIL (EMSEAC) Page 2
This is a good way to get at least 12-15 C.E.U. ' s a year, and
this tuition can be used for ACLS courses .
ACLS recertification for those needing it by yearend may need
to wait until 1984. Doug Greenfield stated that a recent course
has not currently been set up . He has directed the training
section to set up a course for EMS personnel in July or August.
This will be a full course, and if possible , a recertification
course will be located or set up after January 1st. If any
Paramedic has ACLS that expires before then , they need not worry .
EMS will provide !
EMT' s needing to recertify should contact the training Dept.
A course for EMT recertification through E.M .S . will be set up
by March of '84. EMS will pay for this course, but only for
EMT' s .
Jeff Page stated that units assigned to Signal 15 ' s should have
at least 24 hours notice. Skip stated that if at all possible,
a memo is being sent to those involved. If a unit is pulled
for a Signal 15 at a _ moment ' s notice, this is due to a call from
the organization minutes before. Try to bear with it.
EMS Training will be involved in career days at the local high
schools . This is just part of the ongoing projects for this
new division.
Doug Greenfield brought up the idea of an EMS Explorer Group
involving the youth of Collier County. Other EMS systems are
using this program and are willing to help set one up.
The crew of Tr. 6 requested a regular mic on the telemetry
radio due to inability to hear NCH and vice versa. Doug
Greenfield stated this would be taken care of.
Doug Greenfield brought up the idea of the EMSEAC' s term run-
ning from April to April instead of from January to January.
This would allow EMSEAC to have input on the budget process .
Discussion resolved that the incoming EMSEAC would use it ' s
first meeting to amend the Bylaws and set up new election pro-
cedures . This will be the first meeing in February.
Debbie Lichliter stated that the situation at Station 202 is
a real problem and is intolerable. Doug Greenfield stated
that he will go to Marco Island Fire dept. and meet with Chief
Jackson along with some members of EMSEAC.
MINUTES OF THE EMPLOYEE ADVISORY COUNCIL (EMSEAC ) Page 3
FINAL NOTE:
If any employee wishes to purchase a Christmas gift for any
of the supervisors , Administration , or Medical Director, it
is suggested that they do so on a one to one basis .
