Tuesday, April 19, 1983
0930 hrs . The meeting was called to order with the following members
present: Diane Flagg, Dave Kitchen and Jeff Page.
0932 hrs . The minutes were read from the last council meeting and old
business gone over as follows :
0935 hrs . 1 . Mini-blinds for the Imwokalee Station :
Mini-blinds have been purchased. The cost was $228.00 and
delivery within 6 - 8 weeks , approximately June 15, 1983.
0936 hrs . 2. 501 ' s new station rules :
The new rules agreed upon between city fire and C.C.E.M.S.
have now been in effect for weeks with no reported problems .
0938 hrs . 3 . Shift change starting time :
Data research needed to evaluate the possibility of an earlier
shift change between EMS crews will not be completed as pre-
viously expected. Doug Greenfield advises this is due to a
lack of funds. Shift change will remain as is .
i40 hrs . 4. Revamping our back-up vans :
At an earlier meeting, Doug Greenfield stated that trucks 2,
9 and 10 were to be sent to the county wood working shop and
be re-designed. Now, due to lack of funds, and volunteers,
we will have to work on these units at 520' s home in his
garage.
0941 hrs . 5. C.C.E.M.S. Bedspreads :
All stations have now received these new bedspreads . Reports
are coming in that employees are sleeping on these bedspreads .
Please don 't ! Help keep them nice.
0942 hrs . 6. 501 ' s Microwave:
The microwave for EMS' s city station was purchased by Skip Camp
delivered and installed. No complaints , everyone is happy
with the new purchase.
0944 hrs . 7. C.C.E.M.S. Disability Insurance :
After our Last meeting, having discussed disability insurance
with a representative from Franklin Life Insurance Company and
reporting this through the council minutes from the last meeting
we have received little response or interest concerning this
insurance. Jeff has since also placed a memo in each employees
payroll check. If you are interested, please contact Jeff Page
as soon as possible. This needs to get rolling.
0950 hrs . 8. New Cvertime Distribution System for all C.C. E.M.S. :
The new vertime system is now in e ective and felt by most to
be working. Again, it is used for 8 hours or more only. If
there is no answer, your card is marked NA ( no answer ) . If
you refuse, it is marked refused and put to the back of the
rolodex.
1005 hrs . Air-Sea EMS Rescue :
This subject for the present is tabled per Doug Greenfield
until it can be looked into by C.C. E.M.S. Doug Greenfield
stated that employees going out on their own to acquire scuba
training, rescue repelling or any other type course may want
to co-ordinate this with Doug in the hope that you take courses
that the County will endorse on the job.
1010 hrs . New Business
Doug Greenfield advises that EMS payroll checks will now reflect
accurate vacation time and sick time accumulated on each check .
1015 hrs. C.C. E.M.S. is attempting to get 503' s station up to acceptable
standards according to the original 1982 lease agreement. We
have had some positive results since EMS had taken a stronger
stand in requesting that the present landlord make good his
lease agreements . Changes i .e. drapes , shower are in the making.
1030 hrs . Private Donations to EMS
Any person who may-be interested in giving a donation towards
C.C.E.M.S please refer them to C.C.E.M.S. Headquarters . Cash
donations become tied up in red tape, making it difficult to
use the donations toward specific items . Thus, Diane Flagg is
creating a wish list that will be at Headquarters with specific
items the C.C.E.M.S. needs, ranging from small items such as
door matts to more expensive equipment, such as an arrhythmia
machine. Contact Diane for ideas on needed items for the wish
list.
1040 hrs . Med. 9, morning personnel check-ins :
of this date, med. 9 checks are cancelled indefinitely.
1043 hrs . M. IF.D. ofer for quarters at station #2.
ReecntTY 1.F7E—has approached some of our personnel regarding
moving 502' s EMS crew from station #1 on Elkcam, to S. Barfield
at station #2. Basically, MIFD wants to man station #1 with
two firemen. Discussion now in progress between C.C. E.M.S. and
MIFD regarding this matter.
1046 hrs . Extra NO2 blue seals.
s recently been approved by Doug Greenfield to carry an
extra blue seal to replace cut seals after using NO2 on the
units . Seals can then be replaced by the unit crew to decrease
525' s meeting that unit and resealing the NO2.
