Minutes 08/16/1984 MINUTES OF THE EMPLOYEE ADVISORY COUNCIL (EMSEAC) 8/16/84 MEMBERS PRESENT - Bill Boettcher, Tom Maguire, Jeff Page, Beverly Utley, Sue Keny GUESTS PRESENT - Doug Greenfield 0930 The meeting was called to order OLD BUSINESS 1 . Shifts will continue to begin at the current 0830. There were not enough employees wanting an earlier shift change time to warrant a change for everyone. 2. There will be no 507 during the day this season, so if you are at 501 be prepared to work your tail off. 3. The topic of psychiatric help for employees was discussed. Although an employee may want or need some type of counseling, the employee may hesitate or refuse to seek help because he does not want this to be part of his personnel file. Doug will continue to research this for a solution. NEW BUSINESS 1 . Hardees and The Clock are giving us a 50% discount. 2. Thank you for your feedback concerning merit evaluations. All thoughts were discussed and the final common denominator seemed to be "a positive attitude toward your job." A positive attitude will reflect in patient care, unit maintenance, etc, and cause an employee to be worthy of merit. Further discussion and clarification will be forthcoming. 3. It has been recommended to the County Manager that the billing and payment policy be changed for those employees using EMS services. This is not to say you won 't be charged, only that a more diplomatic form of billing is needed. Hopefully, no more nasty notes and a monthly payment policy for employees. 4. Skip has resigned and applications are being accepted for the position of Chief of Operations. The person hired for this will need to meet various educational and professional requirements and will be in charge of all field personnel. 5. Within 6 months all radios except Immokalee will have encoded radios like 501 . Eventually this would enable us to be paged out instead of constantly monitoring channel 4. Also Med 9 will be in all substations by December, ( so if channel 4 goes out we can utilize this. Page 2 6. Changes in supply organization may be forthcoming with ideas mentioned like no more supply cabinets, sealed med boxes, etc. The new Chief of Operations will oversee this program and hire someone to institute it. 7. Finally, please contact your representative if you have a problem. The Advisory Council can be a valuable tool to the employee if utilized. The meeting was adjourned at 12:00. The next meeting will be on Sept. 13th, at 9:30 AM at the EMS Headquarters. Respectfully submitted, Sue Keny SK/jm MINUTES OF THE EMPLOYEE ADVISORY COUNCIL (EMSEAC) 8/16/84 MEMBERS PRESENT - Bill Boettcher, Tom Maguire, Jeff Page, Beverly Utley, Sue Keny GUESTS PRESENT - Doug Greenfield 0930 The meeting was called to order OLD BUSINESS 1 .
