Minutes 03/14/1984 3/14/84 MINUTES OF THE EMPLOYEE COUNCIL (EMSEAC) Members present - Diane Flagg, Tom Maguire, Beverly Utley, Jeff Page, Denny Hare, Sue Keny Guests Present - Skip Camp 0940 - Meeting called to order by Jeff Page OLD BUSINESS 1. Denny reported that due to the hiring of new part time people and the resig- nation of others, he has not yet set up a meeting with part-timers. A tenta- tive date of March 25th was then set up with a time to be announced at a later date. 2. Diane announced the dates of various ACLS courses coming up: May 4th & 5th ACLS Instructor Course May 11th & 12th ACLS Course - Ft. Myers Comm. May 26th & 27th ACLS - DeSoto An ACLS recertification program will be offered at EMS headquarters on May 9th or 10th. Testing will include a written exam and mega code and attendance will be required for only one of the days. 3. Further research regarding an EMS Explorer group is being conducted by Denny and a report will be upcoming. 4. More applicants are needed for the EMS Disciplinary Board as there are still vacancies. All interested employees should fill out a letter of intent and submit it to headquarters. NEW BUSINESS 1. 501 Station - Crews at 501 have been complaining about the herds of roaches residing there. Skip assured us that this station was sprayed last week. Crews, get to your council member if the problem persists. The possibility of a folding door between the two rooms was discussed. This will be checked into. Regarding the cable at 501 - none is available. Skip says we will have to make do with current T.V. Dishes have been delivered to 501 station. Beverly brought up the problem of a lack of clothes line to dry towels at not only 501, but also at other stations. Perhaps racks can be purchased. 2. Tom Maguire would like information on our malpractice policy. According to Skip, each county employee is covered as follows: $ 200,000 - $300,000 Malpractice Policy $ 500,000 Liability $ 1,000,000 Umbrella Policy Further information may be obtained from Skip. 3. It was brought up by Beverly that sirens are being used as musical instruments instead of sirens. The abuse and proper use of sirens was discussed. All employees are advised to use sirens appropriately and professionally or admini- stration will have to issue a directive on their use. 4. The number of Signal 15's sponsored by EMS is being cut down due to the decline in employees willing to work these various CPR classes, talks, etc. Anyone interested in working Signal 15's in the future should contact EMS. 1045 - Meeting adjourned. She assured me the problem would be taken care of. Evidently their maintenance department did indeed try to correct the problem and believed everything to be OK. Today you were advised by 501 that they are still having a problem with the plumbing at Station 501 and also are having trouble with roaches. Again I spoke with Diane Thomas at Naples Community Hospital Engineering Department and was assured both pro- blems would be taken care of this date. It will be early afternoon before Naples Pest Control can spray there. Thank you.
