0940 - Meeting called to order by Jeff Page
OLD BUSINESS
1. Denny reported that due to the hiring of new part time people and the resig-
nation of others, he has not yet set up a meeting with part-timers. A tenta-
tive date of March 25th was then set up with a time to be announced at a later
date.
2. Diane announced the dates of various ACLS courses coming up:
May 4th & 5th ACLS Instructor Course
May 11th & 12th ACLS Course - Ft. Myers Comm.
May 26th & 27th ACLS - DeSoto
An ACLS recertification program will be offered at EMS headquarters on May 9th
or 10th. Testing will include a written exam and mega code and attendance
will be required for only one of the days.
3. Further research regarding an EMS Explorer group is being conducted by Denny
and a report will be upcoming.
4. More applicants are needed for the EMS Disciplinary Board as there are still
vacancies. All interested employees should fill out a letter of intent and
submit it to headquarters.
NEW BUSINESS
1. 501 Station - Crews at 501 have been complaining about the herds of roaches
residing there. Skip assured us that this station was sprayed last week.
Crews, get to your council member if the problem persists. The possibility
of a folding door between the two rooms was discussed. This will be checked
into. Regarding the cable at 501 - none is available. Skip says we will
have to make do with current T.V. Dishes have been delivered to 501 station.
Beverly brought up the problem of a lack of clothes line to dry towels at not
only 501, but also at other stations. Perhaps racks can be purchased.
2. Tom Maguire would like information on our malpractice policy. According to
Skip, each county employee is covered as follows:
$ 200,000 - $300,000 Malpractice Policy
$ 500,000 Liability
$ 1,000,000 Umbrella Policy
Further information may be obtained from Skip.
3. It was brought up by Beverly that sirens are being used as musical instruments
instead of sirens. The abuse and proper use of sirens was discussed. All
employees are advised to use sirens appropriately and professionally or admini-
stration will have to issue a directive on their use.
4. The number of Signal 15's sponsored by EMS is being cut down due to the decline
in employees willing to work these various CPR classes, talks, etc. Anyone
interested in working Signal 15's in the future should contact EMS.
1045 - Meeting adjourned. Next EMSEAC meeting will be April 3rd at 9:30 AM.
Respectfully submitted,

RE: STATION 501
Skip, yesterday, per your request, I spoke to Diane Thomas, Secretary of Engineering
Department at Naples Community Hospital , regarding a plumbing problem in the bathroom
at Station 501 . She assured me the problem would be taken care of. Evidently their
maintenance department did indeed try to correct the problem and believed everything
to be OK.
Today you were advised by 501 that they are still having a problem with the plumbing
at Station 501 and also are having trouble with roaches. Again I spoke with Diane
Thomas at Naples Community Hospital Engineering Department and was assured both pro-
blems would be taken care of this date. It will be early afternoon before Naples Pest
Control can spray there.
Thank you.
