Members Present: Therese Ortengren, Homer Brooks, Pat Hedrich, Beverly Utley, Pat
Maahs, Sue LeMay, Terry Halberg, Terry Lichliter
Staff: Doug Greenfield, Bill Griffin, Diane Flagg, Jeff Page, Doug Cameron
Old Business
1. Jumpsuits The company has had to order more reflective tape but does expect to
deliver them by the week of Nov. 15,
2. Hepatitis Vaccines Homer Brooks will be contacting the Health Department to
find out how they want to schedule the employees for the vaccines.
The vaccines will be administered to full-time personnel first with
any left overs going to part-time employees. Please remember this
is considered a benefit. Once a part-time employee becomes a
full-time employee they will be eligible for the vaccine. Yearly
TB testing will also be done, Bill Griffin will be checking into
scheduling for that, and if the County pays for a chest X-Ray if
your results are positive. The vaccine for Hepatitis will be given
y yearly.
3. School Car If anyone is interested we will have another meeting. Bill Griffin
has been working with the people in school and arranging the
schedule to keep them in the same rotation. So far it is working
fine. Thank You, Bill!
4. Quick Reference Protocols MICU and NCHC have them now.
5. Cold Weather At present washing your vehicle in cold weather is at the
Supervisors discretion, new guidelines will be discussed at the
meeting for revising the S.O.P.
New Business
1. Overtime_ File It was mentioned that the Rolodex was not updated to include
new employees, and that it was not being used properly. This
problem will be corrected.
2. Re-arranging units Some crews were upset that a visiting medic moved some of
the equipment around, this problem should be eliminated by the new
inventory forms. If you still have a problem see your supervisor.
3. Meal deduction During a previous meeting it was mentioned that there might be a
way to deduct meals on your income tax form, according to the IRS
unless you keep a log book with receipts that prove you pooled your
money you cannot deduct meals while on duty, however if you are
working a double and eat while driving to the next station that
meal is deductible. If you have any questions contact the IRS toll
free. They would love to know who you are!
4. Exit Interviews Given through the personnel department
5. 510 When overtime occurs the paramedics will be contacted first, then EMT's.
6. 10-18 vs. 10-18X Some fire departments are still changing the status of units
coming to a call, Per policy we will not shut down if initially
dispatched 10-18 by Emergency Control. The only time you respond
10-18X is to a routine transport per policy. Per Doug Greenfield
there is no liability if you do not shut down but could be if you
do shut down, which could delay your response to a possible
emergency.
7. Inventories A committee was designated to finalize the inventories of the kits
and units. There will be a memo attached to your check with an
area for you to write suggestions, comments, and complaints. The
representatives on the committee are Terry Ortengren, Beverly
Utley, Sue LeMay, and Pat Maahs.
7. TV Trays Trays are on backorder for 502 and 503.
8. New Ambulances The new units should be in around mid-February from Wheeled
Coach. They will be sending samples of paneling, flooring, and
vinyl for selecting the interior. Doug G. mentioned that they
probably will be like # 1. Truck 11 is finally Adios forever!
9. Try tickets We have revised some of the codes on the tickets, and corrected
misspelled words. Dr. Tober added a new section which matches the
trauma scale in the protocol.
10. BTLS We will be having this course this year. It will be a 2 day course.
11. MCI Doug Greenfield went over the MCI scheduled for Nov. 13.
12. Phoenix Award Jeff Page suggested a plaque be made that would be engraved with
the date and crew members name when they have a actual save, ,
It will have to be decided at what point would they consider the
patient a "save", as far as when they leave the hospital or if
they make it up to CCU, Jeff is going to research this further.
13. Comment Cards Billing has not given comment cards back for approximately 6
months but when they do any one which is good is copied and placed
in your file.
14. Dispatch Some crews have experienced problems with dispatch, if you have a
problem please fill out an incident report. Bill Griffin will
handle all complaints.
15. Straps New straps have been ordered, therefore you will carry 6 straps on the
units all of them the same.
16. Malpractice Doug Greenfield stated that each medic is covered for $500,000 per
patient in the event of a lawsuit.
17. Resignation Diane Flagg has resigned as training coordinator
18. Trauma box Air splints may be removed from the trauma box and placed in the
air splint kit.
Please excuse the typing, and spacing of these minutes. Terry 0.

FORM RP 1009-L
MEMORANDUM
DATE: October 10, 1985
TO: All Employees FROM: Therese Ortengren
Ref: Nominations for Advisory Council
There seems to be a misunderstanding concerning the
positions available in the Advisory Council. The
openings are replacing Sue Keny and Bill Boettcher who
have resigned and Terry Lichliter who has been voted by
the council to represent the part-time employees. Essentially
a new position was created to represent the part-timer' s
with a part-time employee. Since Terry was already voted
by the employee' s to represent them we felt it would be
appropriate to have him as the representative for the rest
of this term. The present council' s term expires in April
1986.
The present council member' s are as follows:
Therese Ortengren - Chairman
Homer Brooks - Assistant Chairman
Bill Peplinski - Secretary
Terry Halberg —Representative
Terry Lichliter - Part-Time representative
Unfortunately because of the misunderstanding new ballots
were made and will be distributed each shift. Please vote
for three people who you wish to represent you. The person
with the least amount of votes will become the alternate.
If anyone has reconsidered and feels they would like to
become part of the counil we still have one opening left
for an alternate. If you are interested please contact me
as soon as possible.
I hope this clears any misunderstanding' s incurred during
the election.
Respectfully,
T erese Ortengren
Chairman
