Minutes 01/28/1985 MINUTES OF EMPLOYEE ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING
(EMSEAC)
(01/28/85)
MEMBERS PRESENT - Terry Ortengren, Bill Peplinski and Bill Boettcher
ALTERNATES ATTENDING - Homer Brooks
GUESTS PRESENT - Doug Greenfield, Bill Griffin, Jeff Page and Terry
Halberg
The meeting was called to order at 1015. Officers were nominated and
elected as follows:
CHAIRMAN - Terry Ortengren
VICE CHAIRMAN - Homer Brooks
SECRETARY - Bill Peplinski
OLD BUSINESS
1. Homer Brooks volunteered to follow up on hepatitis vaccine.
Specifically Hepavac as opposed to Gamma Globolin, which costs
approximately $3.00/shot.
2. The issue of jumpsuits was once again brought before the council.
Discussion included requiring employees to pay for suits.
Optionally, a suggestion to use a portion of the employees uniform
allowance was proposed. In either case, both crew members would be
required to wear them. At the present, council members were
encouraged to ask employees the following questions:
A. Would you prefer the option of a uniform or jumpsuit?
B. What color combination?
C. Long or short sleeves?
D. At what times would a jumpsuit be appropriate?
Terry Halberg was appointed to research prices for jumpsuits.
Pending employee suggestions, discussion will resume on this topic
on February 19th at the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Truck #7 will become a multi-supply vehicle in disaster situations
(i.e. recent Golden Gate brush fire) . It will be designated as 500
during these situations. Truck #7's role will be further discussed
by administration at a later date.
2. A motion was made to re-schedule Advisory Council meetings on a
quarterly basis rather than monthly. The option exists, however,
to convene a council meeting at an earlier date should employees or
members deem necessary.
3. It has been suggested that a desk would be built into the closet at
404 and the present desk removed. This, of course, would create
more room.
4. Jeff Page and Terry Lichliter will look into the possibility of a
"school car." A unit which will allow employees to attend school
without sacrificing vacation hours or various shift exchanges.
Such a unit may operate on 12 hour shifts. Suggestions are
requested.
5. Council members have been assigned specific stations on which to
report regarding improvements or alterations. Assignments are:
101 - Sue Keny
202 - Terry Ortengren
303 - Homer Brooks
404 - Bill Boettcher
505 - Bill Peplinski
6. To resolve questions as to the washing of units during cases of
inclimate weather, in particular the recent cold spell, contact
your supervisor.
7. Bill Boettcher will examine the possibility of using a recreation
hall at one of zone 4A's trailer parks for standby purposes.
The meeting was adjourned at 1237 hours.
The next meeting will be on February 19th.
