Minutes 08/05/1986 ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING
August 5, 1986
PRESENT: Terry Lichliter, Pat Hedrich, Marty Ginter, Jorge Aguilera,
Jeff Page, Diane Flagg, Doug Greenfield, Bill Griffin
GUESTS: Richard D'Orazio
Bill Griffin advised there are still Outside Employment forms that need
to be signed and returned to Headquarters.
We have had incidents with North Naples Fire Department personnel
where they have refused to ride in the back of the unit at the request
of the Paramedic. Unfortunately, that is their decision.
The request was made that 510's old room be painted while construction
is in process.
The request was made that we see about a manual opening for the
garage door in Immokalee in case of power failure. Jeff Page will
check in to this matter.
The Immokalee crews stayed at Immokalee Fire Department, Carson Road
when the need arose during construction.
Golden Gate Fire Department will paint our room, also update the air
conditioner. There is still discussion regarding the expansion of our
room at 504.
Uniform fittings were discussed. Hope you all made it in to
Headquarters to be fitted.
PERSONNEL
There was to be a budget hearing. 6 new paramedic positions were
requested. The first 3 positions for shift - October 1 . Second 3
positions for 510 by December 1 or sooner. The Training Officer
position will be available November 1 . (Trust Fund money will be used
for this position) . Part-timers will most likely be phased out by

BAKER ACT
There have been some problems with David Lawrence which have not
directly affected EMS yet. ' However, deputies were told not to Baker
Act a patient unless David Lawrence told them to. This would
definitely affect our transportation of a reluctant person. Pat
Hedrich is to look into this and report to Doug Greenfield.
1 . A request was made for pour spout oil cans. ARA will have
to be asked.
2. Wig-Wag headlights for units was requested. Law
enforcement has a problem with these due to the blinding
effect they have on vehicles ahead of them and other
services that have utilized this system report an increase
in electrical problems with their units.
3. Truck Number 8 needs bug spray and radio problems worked
out.
4. Sally is still working on the new check off sheets.
5. The phone at North Collier Health Center is driving
everyone crazy all night.
6. Per the Chief of Operations, re-certification of EMT and/or
paramedic certification is your individual responsibility.
Re-certifying is to be done no sooner than 90 days prior to
expiration and no later than 30 calendar days before
expiration. Hopefully, we will all be re-certified at the
same time in the near future.
WELLNESS CENTER
Hopefully all of you who were interested in attending the Wellness
Center have had your meeting.
HENDRY COUNTY
We have no mutual aid agreement with Hendry County yet. If EMS
requests us, however, response is covered by the "Good Samaritan
Act" only once we are out of our county. EMS is still trying to get a
mutual aid written agreement with Lee and Hendry County.
REPRIMANDS
Just for re-clarification listed below are the three types:
1 . Oral (has to be in writing, however)
2. Written
3. Disciplinary Action
