Hepatitis Vaccine As of this meeting only 13 people have received their vaccination. Please call the health deptartment and schedule your appointment. Rm3ter you must have a series of 3 injections. Inventories The uniform inventories are completed for the units and boxes. The crews in # 6 are asked to be patient till their new unit arrives, so they can arrange the unit the same way as the other Type III 's. BTLS The course has been delayed due to circumstances beyond our control and of course politics on the part of the people who run the course, in the State of Florida. Phoenix Award Jeff was unavailable to give any more information at this time. (Last seen in the sandtrap of the 18th hole, we're awaiting word from the Chinese embassy) New Business Resignation We are sorry to see Homer Brooks leave the council , but wish him well with his studies. An election is being held to replace him. Hopefully the results will be out Monday the 27th. New Equipment Don Eckert has requested that an extra set of pt. cables be placed on the unit. The advisory council agreed and at this time Bill Griffin is checking into the cost. We are also researching the possibility of purchasing Reeves stretchers. Don Eckert has used these stretchers back home and swears that once we see and use them we we' ll like them much better than carrying the standard stretcher up stairs, down stairs and in any other place where space is restricted. Therefore the council would like you Don Eckert to bring in the picture of the stretcherto the first Tober Meeting for everyone to see. At that time we can get a better idea of what they are. EMS Anniversary This year will be the 5th anniversary for EMS, Doug Cameron has suggested that we all have our pictures taken and a board be made and put in the hallway of all the employees, we all agreed this would be a nice idea and something to look back on. Terry Ortengren will be researching this. Doug Greenfield and Bill Griffin would like to organize a party on Aprils-5, 1986, which is on a Saturday. All agreed to locate somewhere that the crews on duty could rotate in, a place to play volleyball , and possibly by the beach. Some suggestions were Keewadin Island, (rent a pontoon boat to ferry everybody over) , possibly Seagate beach, (with approval from the residents) , and the area of vacant land next to the Golden Gate Country Club. Pat Hedrich is going to work on this, to find out the cost of renting the boat. However Pat will need some help with this project. I would like to see at least four people organinzing this when we decide on a location. As soon as I get more informationIYllsend out a notice for volunteers. Western Gateway Ambulance Service BLS service to go into effect 45-60 days in the Ochopee area. Helicopter New guidelines will be coming with paychecks, there will be a training program for all employees at a later date. (Something like EVOK) except you will not be able to test your skills hovering the craft or shuffle steering. Pagers Several requests have been made to change the page out time to 9pm, it was suggested that this be decided by the Supervisors since they are going tr have to be calling you out to stand by if needed, and that means extra work for them if they are doing rounds or on a call . Transports from NCH (Cardiac Patients) Apparently crews have been asked to transport patients with Nitrate drips in glass bottles, and IVACS. 1 . It is unsafe to carry glass in a moving vehicle. 2. It is not possible to secure an IVAC in the unit and keep it from flying around in the event of an accident, this means another object of considerable weight heading for you or the patient. Keep in mind the hospital staff does not think of these things becauses they do not ride in the vehicle. Bill Griffin is going to establish quidelines for handling these situations. It was mentioned that the Nitrate drip can be mixed in a plastic bag by the pharmacy, but must be wrapped in aluminum foil to keep it from being exposed to light. Legislation regarding Metro in Collier County Do not lose any sleep over the latest bill being brought to the State written by the Collier County Contractors Assoc. (Alias the Bill Brown bill ) , per Doug Greenfield. At this point you will not be have to be a Firefighter. 504 -carpet An attempt will be made to replace the carpet at 504. • S.O.P.
