EMPLOYEE ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING
November 10th, 1987
The following topics and/or items will be up for discussion at this
time:

Discussion on shift swaps in general.
12. Recommended criteria for selection of Paramedic and
EMT of the year.
J3. Upcoming nomination and election process for County
Manager's Advisory Council by December, 1987.
4. Discussion on possible change in type of uniform
footwear.
5. Discussion on sending an ALS team to CLINCON.
6. Update on EMS substation renovation/construction
project.
III . Miscellaneous Business
1 . General discussion on equipment, ie: suction tubing,
endolocks, thumper straps, soft packs, hurricane
kits, and seal easy masks.
2. Miscellaneous discussion on conditions of current EMS
substations, ie: carpeting, smoking, and TV
reception.
As a reminder, please refrain from bringing any items to this meeting
for discussion if it does not appear on this agenda.

Update of picnic -- Plan for early next spring because of the details
to work it out , It will be tabled til the January meeting .
Uniforms -- we are waiting for a vendor to be picked by the County so
that they can be ordered .
Shift Swaps -- The audit is complete for the past 9 months by BIll ,
20employees/month are the average swaps . Nothing is to be done at
this time but Dill will discuss this audit with Doug and the changes
if any will be brought up and discussed at a later time
Paramedic and EMT of the year criteria was reviewed and accepted but
we still need a method of how the person should be selected . A copy
of the criteria is available for review and comment .
County Managers Advisory council selection is to be made through
ballots found in your paycheck . A. Hare has expressed an interest in
this council , and F. Millot also has mentioned it .
Change in footwear for duty -- Brian has reported that Risk
Management at the County is looking into the possibility of wearing
rienforced or steei toes on duty. The best thing to do is sit and
wait to see what Risk Management decides .
CLINCON -- Any one interested in forming a team and practicing now is
the time. Bill will check with Doug on the specifics of the County
assisting with the financial aspects of this.
EMS substations -- STATION 5, is out for bid at this time, next week
is the deadline. All the paperwork for the rezoning has been
completed by Bill but it has to go before the Board for the Zoning
Variance. The addition is a 12x17 structure to the existing room we
currently utilize.
STATION 33 --the new sight has been caught up in the Politics and
may take 2 to 4 weeks to iron out . 90% of the floor plan has been
finalized thanks to the hard work of Bill Griffin.
STATION 1 -- Bill Crone of NCH has offered the abandoned Gas station
near Medic 1 Station for renovation into an EMS station. We will hear
more of the details later ` Keep your fingers crossed .
Suction tubing -- A piece of large bore tubing will be added to your
vehicle inventory.
Diane will follow up on the Endo Lock to see if there is something
better .
Thumper Straps -- There is VELCRO available for the straps, Please
see your supervisor if this is a problem on your unit .
Soft pack are in for the Immokalee units try them out , also a
possibility of soft packs for all units . Please let us have your
opinion by next meeting .
Individual Jump kits for employees -- not at this time but Bill will
talk to Doug about them.
Hurricane Kits for Immokalee Station -- during an emergency an extra
person will be sent to station 6, and that person will be able to
bring these out there. But this is a topic that Bill will discuss
with Doug .
Carpeting in station 1 , Lets hope for a new station, But it will be
looked into cleaning .
TV reception at the Medic stations -- Advisory council need firm
alternatives for TV reception, J. Aguilera and A. Hare are looking
into the problem, , Please make any suggestion to them by next meeting
Smoking in Substations -- The Clean Air Act was reviewed and we do
comply with the Act . The policy will stay as it stands .
There will be a Christmas Party at the Depot in Naples on December
8th , anyone interested please contact J . Page or R. Carroll .
Next meeting will be December 9, 1987 at 1000 am, please have your
suggestions for the Agenda in by December 2, 1987, these suggestions
should have your name on them and should be in detail so if there are
any questions we can contact you.
