EMT and Paramedic of the year presenteo by Doug Greenfield Paramedic --Randy Carroll EMT -- Glenn Alderfer congratulations to both MRI transports from NCH, these will continue, the patient is actually discharged from NCH and readmitted upon completion of the test . Sorry NCH must contact us within 48 hours of contact with a communicable disease including HTLV III and Aids . (may take a little longer for Aids because it takes longer to run the test and get results) . Hand outs for disease control and infection control will be handed out with our pay checks. This will include what to do when you contact one of these diseases. It was brought up to ask NNFD and NFD to have an EMT ride on rescue-- Bill will check into this but it is a very gray area in the state and Doug has been addressing this issue at the state meeting . The EMS picnic will be held a Wiggins Pass state park on November 14. 1987 anyone that is attending please bring a covered dish and contact Frank Millot to find out the rest of the details. Note; th '; s year it is on A shift because last year it was on B shift and it was to celebrate employees that had 5 years of service and most of them where on C shift , this year the committee is on C shift so A shjft looses the toss but wait till next year C shift looses . To bad we all can ' t be off work . Emergency Magazines have not found their way to the stations? Bill will find out why. Helicopter staffing and equipment for the future, , Doug Greenfield and staff are working at this time trying to put a presentation together for the County Manager about future staffing , and Ideas please give them to Bill and Diane. A committee was set up to come up with written criteria for EMT and Paramedic of the year . The members are, A. Hare, M . Ginter , and R . Carroll . Any help or ideas will be appreciated and their recommendations will be presented next meeting . EMS Substations -- Please any major problems about substations give to Doug or Bill by March before the fiscal year . GG Station 5 most expansion plans have been scraped , we are back �o a possible enlarged separate day room of 12x17 to make this a larger facility, sorry about the rest , to much money and to many ordinances . They shculd start in a minimum of 8 weeks . We will know more next meeting . Station 33 possibly located 1 /4 mile east of airport road on Pine Ridge road , next year sometime for completion, we will keep you up- dated . Station 2 will move into Davis Blvd . , East Naples FD possible in January , negotiations are in process to assure that past problems don ' t arrise at the station. The location and the facility are the reasons for the move . Station 6 , Air curtains are being looked at to help with the insect problem and the garage door will be fixed again. Portable lights for above beds at stations and a free standing light at Marco are to be purchased . Radio problems at Station 4 and 3 Doug Greenfield is checking into a possible ring down and maybe better radio system for these places. A new person for supply has been hired , his name is Jack Wampler but we will call him JW , any problems or suggestions about supply can be referred to him or Linda. Jump suits will be ordered in the light weight type. See Linda to check these out , they will have belt loops and reflective tape on them. Uniforms are on bid , if you have not been measured please see Linda . reeves stretcher will be brought in for a test . Sterile gloves will be stocked on the units. Also it was suggested by Doug Greenfield that each employee purchase their own heavy gloves so that they fit and the type that each employee prefers to purchase. Goggles may be checked from supply for use. Shift swaps are being aucited by Bill and Pam because of the conflict they are producing in making out the schedule and people that are available for OT . Also IF of people off at one time for various reasons . This will be discussed in detail at the next meeting so if you �ave any ideas please present them �efore next meeting . Phoenix was discussed for the printing of certificates . An EMS advisory council Agenda will be published before each meeting to give employees a chance to view their ideas , pleas turn in the forms at each station if you have something you want discussed , and of course all are invited to attend any of the meetings , this is your council USE IT. The EMS advisory council will meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 1000AM at 17MS headquaters , items to be put on the Agenda must be presented before the Friday before the day of the meeting . Pleas make your topics in detail so that there are no surprises. Please discuss with your advisory council member about vacation scheduling the old and the new proposed system and remember that in the designated time space that seniority will prevail , but after that any dates open will be on a first come first serve basis as the program is set now. We do need to clear up an overlap time to allow for the month of January. An advisory council vote will be given at the next meeting . Please talk to your representative . The next meeting will be on November 10, 1987 M E M O R A N D U M TO: All EMS Employ FROM: Bill Griffin DATE: October 6, 1987 RE: Employee Advisory Council Meeting Agenda At the Employee Advisory Council Meeting held on October 5th, it was decided by the current council members and this office that all future meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. In order to make these meetings more valuable for all concerned it was also agreed upon to formulate an agenda to be distributed prior to these meetings so that everyone can be informed and prepared to discuss items listed on the agenda. So to keep these meetings flowing in a timely fashion only the items listed on the agenda for that meeting will be open for discussion. Therefore, if anyone has any item that warrants discussion, please complete the appropriate Employee Advisory Council form with the item you wish to be discussed with any and all pertient information to that item and turned into this office no later than 10:00 a.m. on the Friday preceeding the Wednesday Meeting. This change has been implemented in hopes of assisting your Advisory Council and this office to make timely and appropriate decisions on matters of concern. The next Advisory Council Meeting will be Tuesday, November 10, 1987 due to November 11 being Veteran's Day, a county holiday.
